The Monterey Peninsula Corvette Club was founded in the early 1960's. Its original name was the "Roller Chevrolet Corvette Club Inc. Monterey Peninsula". Due to sponsorship, the name was later changed to Singleton Chevrolet Monterey Peninsula.
In the 1970's the name was changed a third time, again due to a sponsorship name change but this time it was changed to The Monterey Peninsula Corvette Club a name that would stand regardless of sponsorship and has remained so ever since.
